Hysteroscopy and menstruation

Hysteroscopy and menstruation

The period after a hysteroscopy may be temporarily disrupted as the endometrium (the inner lining of the uterus) is removed at some point during the procedure, depending on the pathology.
There is no reason to worry about this and the patient will simply have to wait for the next cycle until the body heals the inside of the uterus.
In case of diagnostic hysteroscopy, the menses come normally.
In the event that the menses do not appear or there is very little blood in quantity (less than usual) after 1-2 cycles then it is advisable to consult a gynecologist for an ultrasound check.
In some rare cases, after active hysteroscopies, adhesions may form inside the uterus, which require a new hysteroscopy to be resolved.
