Advances in technology are constantly providing us with new tools that we can use in prenatal care. One of them is the 3D-4D ultrasound.
Essentially, it is a setting that modern ultrasound machines have with which we can visualize the fetus in three dimensions (3D) and have an image closer to reality.
When the fourth dimension (4D), time, is added, the fetus is visualized in three dimensions in real time.
It is an examination that can be done at any time during pregnancy (mainly after the first trimester), and it helps us to complement the classic 2-dimensional ultrasound examination when there are any doubts about some anatomical structure of the fetus.
